User Registration And Accounts
By clsiteadmin Tuesday Nov 18, 2008 6:13amI have not received my confirmation email!
Please allow up to 24 hours for your email to arrive. Also check your email's spam folder, as sometimes we end up in there. If after 24 hours you have not recieved your email, then please send an email to sitemonitor1@gmail.com, using the same email you used to register, and we can manually activate your account.
When I change my password, I am told that the security level is low.
Our system rates password strength on the variation of characters, numbers, symbols and case. The indicator is only a suggestion, and you do not have to follow it. We do recommend setting a secure password, and Crooks and Liars assumes no liability for accounts that are misused due to hacking.
How many accounts am I allowed to have?
We allow one account per user. Our system will automatically reject any duplicate emails. Any user attempting to register more than one account, using multiple emails, may be subject to banning from the site.
I try to register but it says me email is already registered?
If you are receieving this message then please contact the site monitors at sitemonitor1@gmail.com, using the email account you are attempting to register with, and we can investigate and try to free up the account.
Does Crooks and Liars store any cookies on my computer?
Yes we do. Cookies are necessary so that you can log in to the site. They are never used for tracking purposes.
I am logged in on some sites, but not others.
If you appear logged in on one of our site, but then aren't logged in on others, then you have a corrupt cookie. The simplest fix is to logout of the site, then log back in. Generally this fixes it, but if not then you can clear your browser's cookies.

Can I change my username?
We do not allow users to change usernames. If you have a very compelling reason to have your username changed, you may contact our site monitors at sitemonitor1@gmail.com and they can take your case up with the site administration.
What does the "persistent login" thing mean on my account page?
We use a module for Drupal called Persistent Login. This offers the "remember me" check box when you login to the site, so that you don't have to login on every visit. The system also reminds you of your persistent logins via your account page. This is valuable for people using a shared computer who may have accidentally clicked on the "remember me" button when logging in.
I receive a message that I have been banned when trying to comment.
The management of Crooks and Liars reserves the right to ban any user from commenting for violation of our policies. Bans maybe temporary or permanent, and is decided on a per case basis. Users are asked to honor our bans, and any user trying to circumvent them may be reported to their ISP.
